RIPNDIP SNAPCHAT LENSES
I was tasked with creating a RIPNDIP branded 3D AR lens for Snapchat. Working closely with the founder of the company, we decided that creating an animation of the RIPNDIP cat, Nermal, would be the best solution for this project. I started by modeling the cat in 3D. Once that was completed, I was ready to start optimizing the model for animation which involves rigging and weight painting. Rigging adds a skeleton to the model and weight painting is important so that the model bends correctly when animated. When this was completed I was ready to start testing some animations. I used Mixamo for the looping dance animations. This was a very time-effective solution allowed me to try several different animations. Once we found some animations we liked, it was time to import the dancing animation sequence into Snapchat Lens Studio. This software allows you to add textures and customize how your animation acts inside of Snapchat. This entire process was a learning experience, but was extremely rewarding.
RIPNDIP POP-UP STORE, LOS ANGELES
The founder of RIPNDIP and I worked together to create a unique shopping experience at a pop-up store in Los Angeles. The goal was to create an interactive and immersive experience for shoppers. I helped by creating several 3D models of 3-5' flowers in different poses and unique facial expressions. These renders were taken to a fabrication studio, produced, and brought to the LA RIPNDIP store where they were displayed for several months. I also helped develop the floor plan, which featured rolling hills, and other unique installations.
